A VIOLÊNCIA OBSTÉTRICA NO CONTEXTO BRASILEIRO COMO INSTRUMENTO DE PERPETUAÇÃO DA VIOLÊNCIA DE GÊNERO

Abstract

The present scope is to demonstrate how obstetric violence is constituted as a form of gender
violence derived from the heritage of patriarchal culture. Gender inequality has been perceived
throughout history, resulting in the most extreme form of violence against women, the result of
a path of male subordination and domination. In this sense, obstetric violence, then, fits into
one of the forms of gender violence, since it is committed against women during pregnancy in
the pre, during or postpartum period, and may also include cases of abortion. Such aggression
is established as a reflection of the patriarchal society, since the supremacy of the masculine

over the feminine lies in the violation of the feminine dignity and condition, since her body is
disposed to society, directly harming her dignity. The methodology used for the construction
of this essay was based on historiographical and deductive methods. The main research
technique used was the literature review under the systematic format. Furthermore, due to the
qualitative approach employed, bibliographic research and document analysis were also used.
